December 19-25 Heritage Park / Christmas Eve / Christmas Day

HERITAGE PARK

We went to Heritage Park up in Salt Lake to see the Christmas Festivities they had going on. It's a little town with a bunch of old houses that each have something fun to do inside. We got there a little late so we weren't able to see everything in all the houses but we got around to several.

Our first stop was to meet Santa Claus and get a picture with him. Ruby was very unsure about him so I didn't even try to put her on his lap. I think it's mean to make them sit on his lap if they don't want to! :(

There was a train that took us around and had several stops around the village.

There was a live nativity that we checked out.

At one house you got to write a letter to Santa then burn it in the fire. This is how kids sent their letters to Santa back then.

At another house you got to sign the naughty or nice list, the naughty list had no line so we signed it and got some coal candy!

There was a choir singing carols at the exit gate. Ruby was mesmerized and wanted a picture with them. She also got to request her favorite song, Frosty the Snowman, and they sang it for her!

CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve was very relaxing. We hung out during the day and then went to Brenda and Louie's at night. We had Venezuelan food, it's a tradition at the Fuell's since my Uncle went on his mission there. Then my Grandma Frei had a game for us to play where we each had a sheet of paper that had a portion of the poem 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' on it and we had to try and get it in order.

After getting all the stockings and Christmas stuff ready...whew!

CHRISTMAS DAY

Christmas morning we woke up to a winter wonderland! It was beautiful. Since it was Sunday we decided to go to church first and then come back and open up presents. We thought church started at 9 but when we got there there was no one in the parking lot. We asked a guy shoveling the sidewalks and he said church was combined with a few other wards and didn't meet till 10. We went home and my Dad and Nathan shoveled the driveway for an hour.
