July 25-31 Antique Shopping / Lindy Haircut / David Fuell's Mission Farewell

OQUIRRH MOUNTAIN TEMPLE

My mom and sister were still in town from our reunion so we did a few fun things before they had to head back home. We walked around the Oquirrh Mountain Temple...

ANTIQUE SHOPPING

...and went shopping at a little antique shop called Home Again in Midvale. I found two kid chairs, my Mom said next time she comes she will help me repaint them with chalk paint.

LINDY HAIRCUT

We also took Lindy to a salon called Lunatic Fringe in Holladay to get her hair cut shorter. She has had really long hair for a while now and wanted a change. It turned out really cute. I wish I would have taken a before and after!

DAVID FUELL'S MISSION FAREWELL

David Fuell's mission farewell was Sunday. He will be serving in the Colombia Barraquilla Mission speaking spanish. He is such a fun kid. We will all miss him!

Here's Ruby and I at the Fuell's on Sunday after his farewell talk.

July 18-24 Park City Frei Reunion

FIRST PRENATAL APPOINTMENT SCARE

I went in for my first prenatal appt. I was 11 weeks.

Jesse, Janna, and the girls were all in town for our family reunion in Park City starting the next day. Janna came with me to my appt. It was my first appt about this baby so I knew they would be confirming I was pregnant. To make a long story short when the midwife was trying to find the baby with the ultrasound she couldn't find it. When I was pregnant with Ruby and went to my first appt they had the same problem. They told me I had a unique uterus and that the baby was really low. So having that experience I made sure to warn my midwife before she even checked me that that's what happened last time. She still seemed concerned so I asked her if she was. She said she was worried the baby had stopped growing and had died! Janna and I immediately started crying. To make things worse I had to wait to be checked with the wand ultrasound (one that goes directly up the vagina) because there were 2 people ahead of me. They told me to go do my lab work and come back (the lab is right next door).

I couldn't stop thinking about it. I didn't realize how attached I already was to this little baby! I felt terrible! Janna tried to comfort and distract me with funny YouTube videos. FINALLY it was our turn in the ultrasound room. The midwife had a hard time finding the baby even then, but thankfully she found it and it's little baby heart was beating away! I've never been so relieved! I cried for joy.

Having that experience made me feel so much empathy for those that have been through any sort of hardship with getting pregnant or have had a miscarriage. I only got a taste of what it must feel like, but my eyes have been opened a little more.

PARK CITY FREI REUNION

We rented a townhouse in Park City in Bear Hollow Village for 5 days, Wednesday-Sunday. It had three levels, 4 bedrooms on the top floor, the kitchen, deck with a hot tub and a living room on the middle floor, and the lower floor was a basement area with its own bathroom and several beds. Nate, Ruby, Lindy and I all slept downstairs while everyone else slept on the top floor.

We assigned everyone a different day to plan the activity and food for (just breakfast and dinner, we ate leftovers for lunch). It turned out really nice because we all got to eat at least one thing we wanted and do an activity we wanted to do.

JORDANELLE RESERVIOR

Thursday was Shay and Aubrey's day. We went to Jordanelle State Park. We spent the day paddle boarding, swimming and BBQing. Shay and Aubrey made some delicious cilantro burgers. Aunt Ethel, Grandma and Randy met us there and stayed for a bit.

That night Shay and Aubrey made pizza's. They were so yummy!

ALPINE SLIDE & COASTER

Friday was Nathan, Ruby and I's day. We spent the day in Park City, we went on the alpine slide and coaster. It was so fun! Ruby was able to go on the alpine slide but not the coaster. Nate took her down with him, she screamed and laughed so loud the whole way down!

Everyone watched Ruby while Nate and I went on the coaster. She did pretty good till right before we got back. The coaster was so fun but it was a little scary. They told us not to press on the breaks because the person behind you then has to and it can cause a hold up for everyone behind you. So...we didn't, and when we went around corners it felt like we were going to fall out!

UTAH OLYMPIC PARK

Saturday was my parents day, that morning we went to the Utah Olympic Park to watch the ski jumpers. There were bleachers on the side that we sat on to watch. There were three slopes, a 65 meter, 90 meter and a 120 meters. They mostly just used the 90 and 120 meter ones while we were there.

The Olympic Park was designed and built specifically for the Utah 2002 Olympic Games. Now it is used as a training facility for Olympic and development level athletes. I was surprised by how young all the kids were coming off these jumps. It looked like none of them were over 20. The slopes had sprinklers on them to keep them moist and slick. It was amazing to watch.

There is also a ski jumping pool where athletes can practice jumping and ariel training and land into a pool of bubbling water. They did some crazy flips.

HEBER CREEPER

Later on Saturday we went on the Heber Creeper Train! It started out at the Heber Valley Railroad Depot in Heber City and rode along Deer Creek Reservoir. There were several train robberies, 3 women came on and robbed the train several times. Then in the end there was a lady who took requests on her violin. She knew everything by heart! It was fun but also so hot that day! Ruby loved sticking her hands out the window.

At one point Kinley and Millie got a hold of P-pa's camera and took some pretty funny pictures!

FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

Saturday night we took some family photos outside the place we were staying with my Dad's camera set up on a tripod. They turned out really cute!

This picture of these three girl cousins about does me in! Kinley and Millie were so good with Ruby. They were sweet with her and played with her the whole time we were there.
