November 14-20 Ruby's First Snowman / Playdate / Nursery

RUNNING ERRANDS

Ruby and I ran some errands. Nate needed a refill on his pain pills so Ruby and I went to the doctor's office to pick up the prescription. We had to stay for a bit to let her play in the play area. Then we went to Cactus and Tropicals in Draper to get some cactus soil for my aloe vera that needed to be repotted.

RUBY'S FIRST SNOWMAN

Our first snow of the season! Ruby and I had fun playing in the snow and building a snowman! It took most of the snow in our backyard to build but it was totally worth it!

PLAYDATE W/ GRAHAM & RHYS & MILA

Ariel and her boys came over, Karly also came over and brought her baby niece, Mila.

Tina gave us this keyboard! Ruby loves it because it plays Jingle Bells and she can sing a long with the microphone.

November 7-13 Nate Tonsils Out / Grandma C. Hip Surgery / Hannah's Birthday / Nursery

NATHAN GETS HIS TONSILS OUT

Poor Nathan has had these monthly recurring sores that show up in the back of his throat since he was in high school. He was finally fed up and went to see an ENT about it. They said it was viral, he asked if getting his tonsils out might help and they said it might. He was given some acyclovir pills to try and they helped but he wanted to go a head and get his tonsils out to see if that would clear up the issue completely. The only reason the ENT was hesitant to have him get his tonsils out was because of his age. The recovery tends to be worse the older you are. Hannah had just recently got hers out and the recovery for her seemed brutal and Nate is 10 years older!

Ruby and I dropped him off at the Riverton Hospital early in the morning then came back to sleep more. A few hours later we went back to the hospital to get him since we still hadn't heard anything. He was in a recovery room looking very groggy. He was sweating a bunch and said he felt like he was going to throw up. I went to grab a nurse and it took a second to find anyone so I just went back and started fanning his face. That made him feel so much better and he didn't throw up....then.

On our way home though he ended up throwing up right when we pulled into the driveway, he got the door open mostly but some of it got into the door compartment. :(

The recovery was worse than Nathan expected. He couldn't eat anything for the first few days and then could only eat soups and popsicles for about 2 weeks. We set him up upstairs, he played video games, watched movies and slept a lot. A lot of nights he didn't sleep very well. He said he couldn't really swallow and it made him feel like he was drowning most of the time! He slept sitting up which helped a little. Ruby and I slept in the guest room so that I could get up and check on him in the middle of the night and make sure he was still breathing!

Peggy came to help, she brought her massage table and gave us all AromaTouches even Ruby. Look how cute she is!

PARK TIME WITH RUBY

There is a new park by our house that Ruby has been loving lately. Nate bought a wagon to be used for yard work but also for wheeling Ruby around in. She loves her wagon.

GRANDMA C. HIP SURGERY

My Grandma Christensen has had a broken hip for a while now. She has needed hip surgery for a long time but she wasn't able to because of a lot of factors having to do with her iron levels and white blood cell counts. There also wasn't any doctors that wanted to take on her case. Finally after a lot of searching they found a doctor that said he would do it.

Here she is after her surgery, things went really well! She will have a hard recovery but if she takes care of herself she should be fine.

HANNAH'S 23RD BIRTHDAY!

We had a celebration for Hannah for her 23rd birthday at our house. We got Thai food takeout from Thai Basil and a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Poor Nate was still feeling terrible.

RUBY IN NURSERY

This baby absolutely loves nursery. She talks about it all week. She especially loves singing time. She is the only girl in her nursery class with 10 boys!
