FERRY TRIP TO SEATTLE
Monday Karly, Ruby, and I ventured out to Seattle to see all the sites there. We caught the Bremerton Ferry to Seattle.
SEATTLE GREAT WHEEL
First we went to Ivar's on Pier 54. Then we visited the Seattle Great Wheel on Pier 57.
There was a man hand carving a totem pole!
PIKE PLACE MARKET
We paid a guy to bike us in one of those bike carts to Pike Place Market, I was carrying Ruby and was so tired of walking. We walked all around the market and got some fruit smoothies.
GUM WALL
We got our picture at the Gum Wall.
On our way back to the ferry we grabbed bowls of clam chowder from Ivars to eat heading back. It was a fun day!
OLYMPIC GAME FARM
Tuesday Karly, my Mom, Trudy Montgomery, Ruby and I went to the Olympic Game Farm! It's a driving tour where you get face-to-face (literally) with all kinds of animals. This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm in Washington.
Some facts about the Olympic Game Farm...
There are over 200 animals onsite. Llamas, yak, and buffalo eat bread from your hand, bears stand up and wave.
Olympic Game Farm worked exclusively for Walt Disney Studios for 28 years, they filmed at the farm and on the Olympic Peninsula. A few movies and TV series were filmed there.
After the death of Walt and Roy Disney, Disney Studios began to move away from the nature films. In 1972, with the approval of the Disney Studios OGF was opened to the public. The founders of OGF retired from the filming industry and focused solely on caring for their animal actors, concentrating on offering "in need" captive bred animals a new and loving home.
GIG HARBOR WATERFRONT
Karly had to leave Wednesday to head back to Utah. So for her last few hours we went to Gig Harbor's waterfront. We walked around and checked out the stores there, went to lunch at Suzanne's Bakery and Deli, then went to a little park nearby called Crescent Creek Park.
Ruby taking a snooze after a long day of fun.
VISITING SHAY & AUBREY
Thursday we visited Shay and Aubrey at their house. They live across the street from Shay's parents, who have a trampoline, so whenever we go to visit Shay and Aubrey we have to make a stop at Shay's parents trampoline for Ruby. Trampolines are her absolute favorite!
Ruby earlier in the day enjoying a show at Grammie and P-pa's.
PARK W/ KINSIE & HER GIRLS
Friday I got to spend some time with one of my besties, Kinsie Dunn. Every time I come to Washington we try to get together. It just wouldn't be the same if we didn't. It can be hard though since she has 3 little girls now (Paisley, Blayke, and Wren) and she lives about an hour away from my parents house, but we still make it happen!
First thing we did was meet at Chick-fil-a in Tacoma (that's about halfway for each of us) with the kiddos and grabbed some lunch. Then we carpooled over to a park that Kinse knew of and let the girls play.
Ruby was loving the slide. She would go down it, then circle around, go up the stairs and go down it again. She did this about 15 times!
Ruby and Blayke.
Ruby, Blayke, and Paisley.
Kinse and I tried our hand on one of the spinney toys. That girl has strong arms because I couldn't even pull myself in! I was barely hanging on the whole time and we both about peed our pants and threw up from all the spinning. We are getting so old.
BESTIE TIME W/ SARA & KINSE!
Kinse and I parted ways and later that same night we got together with our other bestie, Sara Riddle. We don't get to do this EVER! It was so fun and refreshing to see my two best friends and just laugh our butts off all night chatting and catching up! I felt so rejuvenated after seeing them.
Grammie watched Ruby while I had a girl's night out! Thanks Grammie!
We ate at the Blazing Onion right next to Sara's apartment in Gig Harbor. Sara lives with her boyfriend William Clem there. They have been dating for a while now. He is so good to her, she is so spoiled!
After laughing for hours, we went to a frozen yogurt place for a little treat...
and laughed for another hour...
I think we were being really loud...
I just love these girls so much!
HOME TO UTAH :(
Saturday we headed home to Utah. It's always a very bittersweet experience for me. I love being home in Washington to see family and friends who I love so much. But then I miss my Naterbug and want to get back to him in Utah. Nathan always really misses us too when we are gone. I think he misses Ruby more, hey I'm not complaining!
On our flight home. Utah, here we come!
Ruby and Daddy were so excited to see each other! They have matching watches!
We got to see Grandma and Grandpa Hansen, and Mike and Hannah at Tina's after we got home! Scott and Peggy came down for the long Memorial Day weekend.
Here's our Hansen Sunday photo of the week. Ruby made us wear a sticker on our noses. She's had this thing lately where she puts stickers on her nose but nowhere else and wears it there most of the day. Oh that girl is hilarious! The things she comes up with.
Sunday we spent the day with Scott and Peggy. We ate some yummy food at the Cheesecake Factory and then went to the park for some swinging time.
