February 8-14 Story time / Pho 33 Chinese New Year / Valentine's Day

STORY TIME

Grandma Hansen got to go to story time with us this week!

PHO 33 CHINESE NEW YEAR

Monday February 8th we went to Pho 33 in Midvale while Peggy and Scott were here. We didn't realize it when we decided to go but it was the Chinese New Year so they had a dancing dragon with people playing loud drums. Ruby was terrified. They didn't back off either, they got right in her face and she about had a heart attack, poor girl! Nate and I weren't any help, we couldn't stop laughing.

A man in a mask came by our table and gave Ruby a red envelope with a $1 bill inside. I looked up what that meant later and apparently in the Chinese culture it's tradition to give them out to young children by their parents, grandparents and other relatives. The red color symbolizes energy, good fortune and is thought to ward off evil spirits. The dollar inside is to bring happiness.

She did however enjoy her noodles after the scary dragon performance.

VALENTINE'S DAY

We went to Tina's on Valentine's Day and made chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! They turned out really good.

Can you guess which one Nate helped with? :)

Tina bought this little table at a Christmas craft fair and Ruby loves it! Tina even hung pictures on the island and she has her own set of kiddy dishes to eat from. She is such a good Aunt to Ruby.

Ruby and Razzie loves.

We've been watching Netflix's Making a Murderer and Nate did this side by side of him and the Mom. Twins? I about died laughing.
